A long, long, love affair! I've been into snakes most of my life. When I was young, I was always fascinated with swamps & jungles, and being an animal love, it was only natural that I'd develop such a strong interest in snakes and lizards. As an adult, I've been keeping/breeding them for close to 20 years. It all started with Amazon Tree Boas. They were the first species I ever bred. I later bred all kinds of stuff. I got into the cornsnake morphs big time and also got into some of the high end Asian Rats...I bred Blue Beauties back when no one even heard of them, I think there were only about 5 of us that had them. I also bred Mandarin Rat Snakes, Cave Dwellers, and Calico Chinese beauties. I bred a lot of snakes and sometimes made a lot of money...I never lost my "first love" though, ATBs. Well, many years have passed, now I am working exclusively with ATBs. These snakes infatuate me to no end, this love affair never losses it's romance! At this point in my life, I no longer aim to make a lot of babies and a lot of money. I no longer look at each snake and visualize a price tag on it's head. I'm keeping these things because I truly enjoy keeping them, looking at them, taking care of them, and I LOVE photographing them. I have a modest collection right now, everything from $25 garden phase, to striped morph (Tigers) with a market value in the $ thousands.....I love them all the same. |
